Moon Knight is a dark Disney show about an uncompromising vigilante played by Oscar Isaac. Here's everything else we know about the project.

On November 12, Disney+ Day took place, during which the studio shared its plans for the near future and showed several new materials for upcoming projects. One of the most intriguing of these is the mini-series Moon Knight starring Oscar Isaac. And now that we know a little more about this show, we decided to gather in one place all the known information about this potential Marvel hit.

Who is Moon Knight?

The Marvel comic book universe character was created by artist Doug Moench and writer Don Perlin. The hero first appeared in comic books in 1975 (Werewolf by Night #32). Quickly gaining popularity, by the 1980s Moon Knight had already received his first solo series.

But in short, Marc Spector, a CIA agent and mercenary, while working in Egypt, finds himself on the brink of death when the Egyptian moon god Khonshu offers him the chance to become his avatar on Earth. He agrees, after which he decides to become a vigilante who knows neither pity nor mercy.

Cast and Directors

The lead role in the project will be played by Oscar Isaac, and the showrunner will be Jeremy Slater, creator of another comic book series — The Umbrella Academy. For Isaac, the role of Marc Spector will also not be his first experience in superhero cinema, as he previously played Apocalypse in the X-Men series.

In addition to Isaac, the show will feature Ethan Hawke, who will play the antagonist, and Bahraini actress May Calamawy (Ramy, The Long Road Home).

In one of his many interviews, Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed that the Moon Knight series will have 6 episodes of 40-50 minutes each. Four of the six episodes were directed by Mohamed Diab (Cairo 678). The remaining two episodes are helmed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, one of the most promising directing duos, to whom we dedicated a post. And the presence of these guys inspires great confidence in the upcoming project, which promises to be quite dark and brutal.

At Disney+ Day, we were shown the debut footage of the series, in which we can already see the main character's costume:

Release Date of the Series

Despite the fact that at the Disney+ online event they showed the official logo of the show, the first footage, and even a teaser (see below), the creators have not yet announced the premiere date. But you definitely shouldn't expect the series to start this year, as the premiere of Hawkeye and the third Spider-Man are just around the corner. However, the beginning of spring is an optimal time to launch a new project. We'll keep you posted!
