Let's dive headfirst into childhood and get a little nostalgic for the times when we came home from school and turned on our favorite cartoon on STS, TNT, or Fox Kids! And what could be better than tying that feeling of childhood delight to the eve of All Saints' Day? So... Boo!

Gravity Falls – "Summerween"

This sweet and, at first glance, simple story about a brother and sister spending the summer with their great-uncle Stan in the supernatural-saturated town of Gravity Falls has won the hearts of millions of people around the globe. The series and the popularity of its two seasons demonstrate to all other TV products that it's better to leave at your peak.

That makes it all the harder to fit a Halloween episode into the summer timeline. A special holiday called Summerween was invented for this purpose, complete with all the necessary traditions and attributes. The main "monster of the week," the Summerween Trickster, whose backstory deserves special praise, becomes one of the most interesting monsters in the series – and the episode is worth rewatching just for him.

Totally Spies! – "A Spy is Born"

Many girls whose teenage years fell in the late nineties and early 2000s can experience a wild bout of nostalgia just by looking at the faces of the main heroines of the spy cartoon Totally Spies! Not to mention the very first episodes, which include "A Spy is Born."

In the midst of searching for the perfect costumes for a Halloween party, Sam, Clover, and Alex get drawn into an investigation that will throw them into the Middle Ages. Spy activities, clever gadgets, outfits, and talk about boys – it's all here, everything we once loved about the cartoon about those diet Charlie's Angels.

Phineas and Ferb – "One Good Scare Ought to Do It!"

And again, a surprisingly popular cartoon set during the summer months. Coincidence? Probably.

Phineas and Ferb only seems overly childish and naive at first glance; its gags are funny enough, and its songs are good enough (even in the Russian dub) to pique the interest of an older audience.

The episode "One Good Scare Ought to Do It!" was released on October 31st, so it fits perfectly into our list. When the main characters' friend Isabella starts hiccupping non-stop, Phineas and Ferb decide to give her a good scare to help. But to do that, they'll have to figure out what the girl is afraid of through trial and error...

Adventure Time – "The Creeps"

It seems like an absurdist cartoon would be a poor fit for a murder investigation in an old haunted castle, right? It only seems that way, because the combination is surprisingly good!

The series itself, while not as iconic a nostalgia trip as some other entries on the list, is still incredibly interesting and definitely deserves a rewatch.

Jake and Finn wandering through a sinister castle trying to investigate sudden deaths – it's stylish, funny, and very Halloween-y.

Kim Possible – "October 31st"

A female spy – we've heard that one before today. And yet, this cartoon is so different in spirit from Totally Spies! that we unashamedly include it in our top and get ready to watch. Especially since original Disney animation is always at least interesting.

On the eve of All Saints' Day, the main character finds herself in a difficult position: a strange bracelet appears on her wrist that prevents her from lying, and Kim was secretly planning to sneak into a party...

Hey Arnold! – "Arnold's Halloween"

American streets, atmospheric jazz, and invaluable life lessons – that's what the cartoon about Arnold, his friends, his secret admirer Helga, and the residents of the Sunset Arms boarding house is remembered and loved for. Some episodes left deep emotional scars on many of us – but that's not what we're talking about now.

The episode "Arnold's Halloween" largely mocks the mass panic of gullible Americans sparked by Orson Welles' radio broadcast of "The War of the Worlds". Only this time, the cause is a prank by Arnold and Gerald. And you'll have to find out how it all ends for yourself.

Timon & Pumbaa – "Ghost Boosters"

Hakuna Matata – the meaning of the phrase is so simple! I bet most of our readers felt the urge to sing the rest of the song. Maybe even at the top of their lungs.

The episodes of Timon & Pumbaa are a bit different from the rest, as they usually consist of two stories. We'd like to recall one, a particularly Halloween-themed one, where the main characters, wanting to finally sleep in a nice warm house on soft beds, agree to what seems like an easy job. Namely, being ghost hunters.

Life with Louie – "A Halloween Story"

Who would have thought that a simple story about the childhood of comedian Louie Anderson could stick in your heart so much? Especially considering the strange voice and appearance of the title character, and the heavy focus on the father of the family, the eccentric ex-soldier Andy Anderson. But many of the stories and analogies are so true to life that viewers who have grown up still remember the cartoon with special fondness.

In this episode, Louie steals a candy while shopping with his mom, after which his conscience starts to bother him, and all attempts to get rid of the ill-fated candy prove futile. And, of course, we have Halloween and the traditional trick-or-treating. A warm and cozy story with a good moral – why not watch it?

The Simpsons – "Treehouse of Horror"

We'll bend the rules a little and recommend not just one, but many episodes of one series related to the theme of All Saints' Day. Especially since The Simpsons deserve it.

Every new season starting from the second presented us with a small anthology of supernatural stories, released in October for the viewers' delight. For one episode, The Simpsons seem to break out of all possible bounds of realism and let us enjoy a dark atmosphere and paranormal activity. If we have to choose just one episode to recommend, we suggest the fifth one.

Over the Garden Wall

We couldn't resist breaking our own rules one more time. But Over the Garden Wall is a very short miniseries that can be watched in one sitting from start to finish, which makes it perfect for a themed movie night with friends.

The story of two brothers traveling through the Unknown cannot leave anyone indifferent – you want to empathize with the characters, and some characters and scenes are creepy enough to delight viewers of all ages.
