How the finales of 'WandaVision' and 'Loki' prepared us for the multiverse in Marvel and what future films will reveal.

Despite a long break in movie releases and endless delays, Marvel continues to release fairly successful series in terms of viewership, which prepare viewers for the new phase. And the endings of WandaVision and Loki give us plenty of food for thought about what comes next.

Loki's dialogues and philosophical musings have practically answered the pressing question about the multiverse. It is now officially launched. We are in for different timelines, different versions of characters, and a completely unpredictable course for the future.

The 'Loki' Finale

Before diving into the small details of how the events of 'Loki' and 'WandaVision' have affected the Marvel Cinematic Universe, let us once again recap the finale and discuss Loki's own future.

Season 2 will likely be much more dynamic and eventful. First and foremost, Loki needs to figure out which timeline he is in and what version of the TVA this is. He will have to regain Mobius's trust in a universe where Kang has rewritten history completely differently. And we can expect more Kangs. After all, there is an infinite number of time-traveling villains to contend with. Plus, Loki and Sylvie will have to sort out their relationship.

Kang and His Future in the MCU

We were warned that Loki would have the greatest impact on the future of the MCU. And instead of giving us a full-fledged villain in the finale, fans were introduced to a version of Kang the Conqueror who is thoroughly tired of managing time. A kind of charismatic, powerful sociopath with a hint of madness. And just imagine what his variants will be like in more malevolent versions. But did the Loki finale make Kang the new Thanos? After all, in the early films, Thanos also operated from the sidelines, not posing a real threat. Will we see him in several films at once? Will we see multiple versions of Kang come together? There are endless possibilities for how this villain will manifest in Phase Four.

What If...?

After the introduction of the multiverse, Marvel can do whatever it pleases, including logically explaining the series What If...?, which may not just be a fantasy but rather very real existing realities. Now, the MCU can easily and without any questions incorporate Tom Hardy with his Venom, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and absolutely anyone. They can even resurrect characters. We will see different versions of heroes from different timelines starting August 11.

Spider-Man: No Way Home

It seems that Spider-Man will be the first Marvel film where we encounter the consequences of the Loki series finale. Yes, we are all waiting for the appearance of three Spider-Men, which the internet won't stop talking about. But a more realistic scenario is that Tom Holland's hero will meet villains from different universes. Their appearance from other timelines is confirmed by the actors' vague responses to questions about the characters. And maybe Mysterio didn't lie entirely to Peter about other universes?! We just have to wait for the first trailer, as well as the film itself, which is still scheduled for December of this year.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

So, let's start with the fact that Strange himself will first appear in the Spider-Man film, though it is not yet known how many scenes he will have, but the events of Spidey will definitely impact the Doctor's own sequel. In his solo film, Strange is expected to face a serious opponent, as the sorcerer himself is already quite powerful. And the confirmed presence of the Scarlet Witch and Loki himself may hint at what exactly we'll be dealing with.

The post-credits scene of WandaVision showed that Wanda is not just relaxing in the mountains far from civilization for no reason. Her astral projection of the Scarlet Witch, or her alter ego (or however you want to call it), is reading an intriguing dark book that will definitely upgrade her magical abilities. In the background, you can hear Wanda's children crying out for help. Although it was believed that Billy and Tommy were merely manifestations of her own magic. Does this mean that WandaVision already showed us the consequences of the multiverse's emergence?

Most likely, in Multiverse of Madness, the Scarlet Witch will be searching for her children across other universes. And while everyone was waiting for Mephisto's appearance, perhaps it was Kang who was the observer from the sidelines, influencing events. The film's release is scheduled for March 2022.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Well, we've already been introduced to one version of Kang the Conqueror, and it's only logical that the upcoming film will present us with another variant. There's one detail worth noting: in the previous film, when Hank Pym escapes from the Quantum Realm, we are shown an entire civilization inside. Could one of the Kangs have been trapped there? Perhaps he will break free and seek revenge. We're expecting the film around February 2023.
