“Tune in to Cinema!” presents exclusive new films that will be shown for the first time on Russian TV in June on the “Kinopremyera” channel.
June 9 — “The Silver Skates”. Super premiere!
A fairy-tale melodrama about the love of a nobleman’s daughter and the son of a poor lamplighter against the backdrop of Christmas in pre-revolutionary St. Petersburg. This beautiful story became a hit of the New Year’s box office, grossing 480 million rubles. The film won three “Nika” Awards in 2021 — for Best Editing, Best Costume Design, and Best Production Design. The film was created by the makers of “The Epidemic”, “Going Vertical”, and “Legend No. 17”.
June 2 — “Holly Slept Over”
An adult comedy starring Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei from “Game of Thrones”). A charming college acquaintance adds some “spice” to a married couple’s personal life.
June 16 — “The Love Spell. Black Wedding”
A mystical thriller from the creators of successful Russian horror films Ivan Kapitonov and Svyatoslav Podgaevsky (“Yaga. Nightmare of the Dark Forest”, “Rusalka. Lake of the Dead”, “The Widow”). A desperate girl performs a terrible ritual to get back the boyfriend who left her.
June 23 — “Capone. The Scarface”
A benefit performance by Oscar nominee Tom Hardy (“Inception”, “Venom”, “Mad Max: Fury Road”). A chronicle of the last years of the life of the most famous and brutal American gangster Al Capone from the director of “Fantastic Four”, Josh Trank.
June 30 — “Soul”
A touching film from Pixar studio legend Pete Docter (“Monsters, Inc.”, “Up”, “Inside Out”). Two Academy Awards in 2021 — for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score. Second place in the list of highest-grossing films in Russian distribution in 2021 — over 1.2 billion rubles.
