After the success and the title of "most talked-about project" in 2019, the series "The Boys" continues to surprise fans and casual viewers. A powerful finale, a cool new villain, and confidence in the continuation of the story — that's what Season 2 of "The Boys" gave us. A season that, to the delight of many, turned out to be no worse than the first.

The shock factor from the trash and gore was no longer at play; there was less action but more drama. Hughie and company were haunted by the mystery of Compound V, exploding heads, new Nazis, and personal dramas.

We were once again convinced that people with superpowers can do whatever they want without any consequences. And we know for sure that The Boys won't let it slide and will continue to fight.

What Was Good?

Fights

Even in the first season, "The Boys" stood out for its fight scenes, which were called some of the best on TV projects. The stunt team did a great job in Season 2 as well.

The most memorable fight took place in the season finale. The girls, in the form of Kimiko, Starlight, and Queen Maeve, really lit it up, while the guys didn't even try to intervene.

Weapons Against "Supes"

It was a great decision by the creators to already lead viewers this season to the understanding that people and the government are beginning to realize the danger of "supes" and the nature of their power. There is already specific weaponry and a state of emergency, an army of soldiers on Compound V has been created, and perhaps other trump cards are hidden. All of this will become a major obstacle for The Seven and other superheroes in subsequent episodes.

Daddy Homelander

In Season 2, we were given a little insight into Homelander's nature: where it all began, what influenced him, and what he strives for. This is a big advantage of the new episodes: a deeper acquaintance with the characters is something that Season 1 lacked. At some point, you even want to empathize with Homelander.

We know that Homelander's main fear is losing the public's recognition and love. This makes him even pitiable. Add to that the complete distrust of Vought and growing uncontrollable aggression.

Since Homelander spent a lot of time with his son this season, it is the desire to get his offspring back that will become the hero's main goal in the continuation of the show.

The Special One

In any superhero story, there is always a "Chosen One," which in Season 2 became the child of Becca and Homelander. Towards the end, the boy named Ryan revealed his abilities, which surpass his father's in power. We saw this with the lasers: Homelander couldn't do anything to Stormfront with them, unlike the boy, who almost completely burned her.

In the new season, we will be waiting for the revelation of his abilities and how the new supe will adapt to the world.

Stormfront and New Supes

We learned about one of the first and most powerful supes in history. And we are still not entirely sure if she can be killed at all.

In addition, we were shown a couple of new supes with strange, cool, and memorable abilities. But we wanted more.

The Most Unhinged Couple of the Year

Homelander and Stormfront. Two psychopaths who get off on death and causing pain. Their story developed slowly and reached its peak in the final episode. Stormfront's near-death state certainly didn't have the best effect on Homelander's psyche.

Sense of Danger

This feeling haunted us throughout the season, starting from the first episode. People's heads exploded completely unexpectedly, with a powerful episode in the courtroom. By the finale, we began to understand that no one is safe here.

The omnipresent danger throughout the season was closely intertwined with the mystery: "Who is the bomber?" We found out in the very last seconds of the finale, and it was quite unexpected.

The Main Intrigue with a Look to the Future

Perhaps none of the viewers could have guessed who was actually exploding heads in the new season. The "bomber" turned out to be Victoria Neuman, a young congresswoman and secret supe who is playing her own game. And it's still unknown whose side she's on, what she's fighting for, and what she's trying to achieve. Perhaps she's aiming for the head of Vought.

What Was Bad?

Wasted Characters

It's sad that despite all the attention given to character development in the new season, some heroes were completely neglected. For example, all fans are disappointed with the frankly wasted Black Noir. He hardly showed himself in the season, remaining a man of mystery. Although we learned about his weakness, a very stupid weakness, it must be admitted. We hope that in the third season, Black Noir will get more screen time.

Is There Enough Momentum?

Apparently, the creators of the project were not entirely confident in the show's success and laid all their cards on the table in Season 2. Fans found it suspiciously strange that the finale almost completely put a full stop to the story. The Boys returned to normal life. The Seven became the public's darlings again. Hughie found a new job. Butcher never got a happy ending. The romantic line between Frenchie and Kimiko was more interesting than between Hughie and Starlight, and, as it seems, was brought to a beautiful conclusion.

Almost all new characters were completely wasted or killed off by the end of the season; even an organization like the Church faded into the background as the plot progressed. Everything returned to a clean slate, a starting point for the new season.

Minor Flaws

Yes, this season still has plenty of stupid moments and inaccuracies that are glaring. For example, how wanted guys calmly walk around the city and go to the hospital, or how Queen Maeve always shows up at the right place and time in the finale.

Becca and Butcher Without a Happy Ending

Becca desperately tried to save her son, who ends up accidentally killing her. She and Butcher don't get a beautiful ending to their romantic story, and the child will clearly not be in the best state after killing his mother.

Not Enough Trash

"The Boys" accustomed us to an abundance of filth, trash moments, and uncontrollable plot development. In the second season, all the "juicy" stuff was saved for the final episodes, which made the season seem boring to many viewers.

7 Main Questions for Future Seasons

What Will Happen to The Seven?

So far, it's completely unclear what the final lineup of The Seven will be for Season 3. Black Noir is in the hospital, A-Train has returned, Starlight and Queen Maeve are on the team but technically considered traitors. Homelander has completely lost it. And we already know that a new character, Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles), will appear and aim for the team. There is also no definite answer regarding Stormfront, because she survived in the finale but clearly won't be able to function normally anytime soon. And we don't yet know what else The Deep is willing to do to get back on the team.

What About Madelyn's Child?

From the news, we learn that Teddy's son has been found alive. Eric Kripke has already promised that the child will appear in Season 3 and play an important role in the plot.

We still don't know who the father of the child is and whether it even matters to the story. Why did Madelyn raise him alone and even hide him from everyone?

Can The Deep Return to The Seven?

The Deep suffered again this season. His entire journey turned out to be useless, because in the end he didn't return to the team. But at the same time, we learned about a new organization — the Church.

The Deep managed to get married, transfer all his bank accounts, and now it's completely unclear what will happen next with this unusual hero.

Who Will Become the New Leader of the Church?

Alastair's head was blown up (surprising, right?!), and we haven't been introduced to a new leader yet. And it's generally unclear how the entire system inside the Church works. Will they pursue the same goals in the new season?

Where Was Ryan Taken?

We know that Grace Mallory will protect Ryan from Vought. And the organization will certainly want to find the unusual child, as will his father. It's unclear how to hide a super-child and what to do with him.

Where Was Stormfront Placed, and What Condition Is She In?

Even after seeing Stormfront in the finale, no one is sure she won't survive. On the contrary, it was made clear that Stormfront is alive. Perhaps she will slowly recover, or a new Compound V will help her. It's interesting what role the heroine will play for Vought if she recovers.

What Are Victoria's Motives?

This is the main question for Season 3 of "The Boys." Who is Victoria, why does she hide her abilities, and what is she fighting for? She has a lot of dirt on other supes, which she has saved for a better time. Eric Kripke confirmed in an interview that this character has a big role in the new season. We await the continuation!
