Behind the unremarkable title "365 Days" lies another scandalous Netflix hit. But is it worth watching?

On the vast expanses of Netflix you can find a wide variety of projects: from American teen series to Indian blockbusters. Amid all this diversity, it's easy to overlook a film with the unassuming title "365 Days" (365 dni). Yet this is a representative of a rather rare beast in recent cinema — the genre of "erotica."

The main reference in the form of "Fifty Shades of Grey" is obvious from the description alone, but does the Polish project have its own identity? Find out from our review.

Taming of the Shrew

The plot of the film "365 Days," based on the eponymous novel by Blanka Lipińska, tells of the heir to a large empire, Massimo (Michele Morrone), who suddenly becomes its head after his father's death. On the brink between life and death, Massimo sees the face of a mysterious girl in visions. The guy decides to find at all costs the one who helped him pull through.

It's not hard to guess that he manages to find Laura (Anna Maria Sieklucka). However, he chooses a rather unusual way to get acquainted — he kidnaps the girl and offers her to fall in love with him in 365 days, otherwise she can be free.

After a rather strange setup, the plot settles into the rails of a familiar and even somewhat outdated erotic drama — she resists, he persists, they fall in love, quarrel, and the rest follows the list. The most important thing in this taming of the shrew is the process. Or rather its shell.

Sex, Sexual Violence, and More Sex

The main emphasis in the film "365 Days" was obviously on shock value and the presentation of erotic scenes. There are very, very many such episodes in the film. At some point, the plot fades into the background, and the directors Barbara Białowąs and Tomasz Mandes, with the help of quite attractive actors, revel in depicting sex in various positions and locations.

Sometimes the sex scenes are interspersed with episodes of violence, apparently to add "spice." This looks strange and is not always appropriate. Some viewers may even find such techniques unacceptable, especially since in many such episodes there is outright objectification of women.

Is It Worth Watching the Film "365 Days"?

The film by Białowąs and Mandes is an outwardly beautiful but superficial story with an abundance of sex, not always appropriate soundtrack, and a general old-fashionedness in the presentation of the plot. It is suitable strictly for fans of the genre who miss erotica in mainstream cinema, or for TikTok lovers, because on that platform there was even a popular challenge related to watching the hottest scenes of the film.
