Neighbors (2014)
Seth Rogen is one of those actors who are firmly associated with one persona — in this case, the charming fool and man-child. And one of the most striking and successful examples of his performance in this image is his role in the film «Neighbors», which became the start of a hugely successful franchise at the box office.
In the plot, Rogen's and Rose Byrne's characters start a real war with their young neighbors who love to throw loud parties.
50/50 (2011)
Rogen is not averse to participating in dramedies, where the story skillfully balances on the edge between humor and tragedy. Jonathan Levine's film is one such movie. It can't be said that the actor himself strayed far from his classic image in this work, but one cannot fail to note how he helped Joseph Gordon-Levitt shine in the frame, who received his second and to date last Golden Globe nomination.
At the center of the story is Adam (Gordon-Levitt), who learns he has cancer. His close friend (Rogen) is meant to help him through this difficult time and find some positivity in what is happening.
Funny People (2009)
Seth Rogen and Judd Apatow had worked together before, creating one of the funniest youth series of all time, but the film «Funny People» became a much more serious and mature work for both of them. Rogen once again demonstrated his ability to offset the brilliance of other actors, giving the lead role to Adam Sandler. Sometimes in the West, this film is spoken of as a movie like «A Star Is Born», where the story became funnier and wittier, and country singers were replaced by comedians. And there is some truth to that.
In the plot, a famous comedian (Sandler) learns he has an incurable disease and in the time he has left, he decides to befriend another comedian (Rogen) whose career is not taking off. Both guys just want to make people laugh.
Pineapple Express (2008)
The friendship of Seth Rogen and James Franco has already become a Hollywood classic. They constantly act together, often get creative, and sometimes create quite strange projects. Perhaps the best and funniest fruit of their collaboration is David Gordon Green's film, where the actors essentially play themselves even better than in «This Is the End».
Two slacker friends get involved in a criminal situation from which it is not so easy to escape. Fortunately for them, they always have plenty of weed on hand.
Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008)
Seth Rogen became famous to the general public after Judd Apatow's film «Knocked Up», but it was Kevin Smith's film, released a year later, that cemented his status as a new comedy superstar. In «Zack and Miri Make a Porno», there was an amazing combination of a modern sex comedy with old-fashioned heart, the filling of 90s indie films with typical 2000s cinema. This cocktail strangely worked, and this success was largely due to Rogen.
The story tells of two friends who decide to make some money for rent by shooting a porno, but in the process they realize how important they are to each other.
