"Die Hart" mixes reality and fiction in an attempt to prove the brutality and coolness of the famous comedian.

On July 20, the platform Quibi, which is trying to popularize the standard of series with episodes up to 15 minutes long, released a new project "Die Hart". The main role in the project was played by the famous American comedian Kevin Hart, essentially portraying himself but in fictional circumstances. Let's figure out how witty this comedy about a popular humorist trying to become an action movie star turned out to be.

Funny but Simple at First Glance Plot

Kevin Hart, tired of being perceived solely as the comedic partner of Dwayne Johnson and a comedy star, loudly declares that he can and wants to be an action hero. One of his favorite directors (Jean Reno) offers him the lead role in his new project, but before that, Hart, according to him, needs to go through the action star school of Ron Wilcox (John Travolta, although Bruce Willis himself was invited for this role).

Die Hart series

An actor tired of his established image is a fairly common situation in the real film world. We can recall many examples of Hollywood stars going off the deep end and/or making a 180-degree turn in their careers (Jim Carrey, Matthew McConaughey, Keanu Reeves, Will Smith, etc.). It can be said that this is, if not an original concept, then a rather interesting story. Moreover, it is extremely fertile ground for universal and appropriate jokes, of which there are plenty in the series "Die Hart."

Cinephile Pranks

Since the series is entirely dedicated to our beloved art, the creators of the project Eric Appel, Tripper Clancy and Derek Kolstad allowed themselves to stuff it with cinephile references and Easter eggs. This can be seen in literally everything, from the episode titles that repeat the names of popular movies to the presence of Josh Hartnett in the role of Josh Hartnett. You will notice many scenes that remind you of something and hear familiar phrases, spot common cinematographic and directorial techniques. And, of course, there is also a double bottom in the story.

Successful Humor

The series "Die Hart" would not have worked properly if it did not have a lot of successful jokes. There are also quite a few not very funny and secondary gags, but given the very short episodes, the density of humor is high. Here they joke about the image of a comedic actor, put characters in funny situations, and of course, the acting performances (especially Travolta's) amuse no less than the textual punchlines.

Watch Die Hart

Is It Worth Watching the Series "Die Hart"?

A moderately funny, moderately original series with Kevin Hart will appeal to both fans of the artist and people in love with cinema. Overall, it is such an optional but very pleasant trinket that you can watch in one evening and have a good time in the company of goofing-off stars and the beautiful Nathalie Emmanuel.
