Recalling and discussing what we saw in the eighth episode of the series "Penny Dreadful: City of Angels."

In the new episode, some of the storylines of the series "Penny Dreadful: City of Angels" finally intersected, and the overall picture gradually began to emerge more clearly. But is it too late? We will probably discuss this at the end of the season, but for now, let's recall what we saw in the fresh episode.

The Good Guys

A miracle happened. Tiago and Lewis are finally investigating! While the Mexican tries to find out from Molly's mother, Miss Adelaide, about the connection between the church and the Nazis led by Goss, Lewis tries to build a relationship with official Townsend (unsuccessfully). But having learned practically nothing new, except for the fact that the Germans have big plans for Los Angeles, the detectives are attacked by unknown assailants. The hint is quite obvious — sticking your nose where it doesn't belong is dangerous.

During the investigation, Tiago incidentally learns that the object of his affection, Molly, is in close contact with his sister Josefina. He was disappointed, but he couldn't drive Molly out of his life.

Puppets

In this episode, Magda finally moves into an active phase of activity, working her puppets — Mateo, Doctor Kraft (who, as it turns out, is not really Kraft), and Townsend.

She brainwashes Tiago's brother with stories that he should lead the Pachucos and become the "bloody king."

As if sensing that Townsend might show weakness, Magda, in the guise of Alex, meets Detective Lewis and promises to help him with the Goss case. What she hopes to achieve with this is not yet clear, but it is obvious that being close to an unsuspecting enemy could play into the demon's hands.

Magda urges Kraft to be a true German, to fight for his country, to oppose Jews and Mexicans. Through her "son," the demon tries to drive Maria out of the house, who beforehand manages to give Kraft's son a coyote talisman for protection against dark forces.

Interestingly, Krupp (Kraft's real surname) disagrees with Elsa-Magda and, despite the fact that his new flame's child "burns himself" on the stove, he does not kick Maria out of the house, but instead raises her wages. Thus, it can be said that Maria continues to be Magda's main rival; she knows perfectly well about the demon's capabilities and how to resist her. We will find out what comes of this rivalry very soon.

It is also interesting to follow the development of Kraft's character. Now we have learned about his German background and can more accurately understand his struggle between the two essences of his nature, his two lives. In general, a lot of attention was paid to him in this episode, and one of the most interesting scenes was the dialogue between him and his ex-wife Linda. The woman not only did not "break down" while in the asylum, but also threatened her ex-husband that she would destroy him and dedicate her future to ruining his life.
