"Killing Illusion" (2025, Spain, Dominican Republic)

My relationship with European cinema is complicated [and how could it be otherwise if a person grew up on action movies with Iron Arnie and Bruce Willis], but in recent years I've been trying to improve it. This time, the guys from @provzglyad helped me in this endeavor by bringing us a cool Spanish thriller-puzzle "Killing Illusion"

The film runs for an hour and a half, and it seems to me this is the perfect runtime for such a story. The exposition is minimal and just enough to intrigue, introduce the setting, and hint at a couple of secrets. But not to bore or inadvertently reveal its cards. And by the 20th minute, the acceleration begins, which only gains momentum until the finale.

Honestly, when I started watching, I didn't even imagine where everything would lead in the end, where the characters would end up. At the beginning, the authors created an air of mystery and even a bit of mysticism, and closer to the finale they delivered a series of sharp plot twists that pleasantly delighted and even surprised.

Of course, there were some questions about certain moments, but personally they didn't spoil the viewing for me. In my opinion, they are insignificant for the main storyline.

So, if you decide to watch "Killing Illusion", you'll most likely drop out of life for an hour and a half. And you won't be bored. So I recommend checking out this intriguing film, which, by the way, is already in theaters from July 2nd.
