On the Canaries again, I caught myself thinking about marketing and why everything is different here, nobody needs anything.
Recently, I was asked to look at a regional group on VKontakte. At first, I looked at it with my usual perspective: I wanted to improve the visuals, make everything neater, more modern, 'as it should be.'
But then I went to look at other local communities.
And I realized that we often evaluate regional projects by Moscow standards. Although that's not always right at all.
In Moscow, there's huge competition for attention. Everything has to be perfectly packaged, otherwise you simply won't be noticed.
But in small towns, slightly different rules apply. People care more about getting information, asking a question, finding the right contact. And if a group fulfills this task, people write in it and read it β that means it's already working.
Of course, I would tweak some things visually. But I wouldn't change anything globally.
