❗️VK was removed from the App Store today
All products at once - the main client, mail, messenger. And here I sit and think - what's next? And what effect will it have on my business...
We in @VitrinaRandomBot integrated with MAX. The mechanics are simple and cool: we check subscription to a channel in MAX and launch the user into the game. Essentially, we transfer audience between platforms. It would seem logical - a single circuit, the user goes back and forth and collects bonuses.
But this news today makes me think a little differently. If Apple calmly removes everything from VK - what prevents Telegram from saying tomorrow "let's remove everything related to MAX"? It seems there is a risk, and in the sense that Apple will pressure Durov...
I honestly always doubted this integration - it's normal when you build something big and complex. But now the question has become both more acute - but not urgent...
Here's what I'm thinking about:
🔵Telegram - is CIS and the whole world
🔵MAX - is only Russia
🔵Maybe it makes sense to make them completely different projects, without traffic transfer between them?
So far I'm leaning towards separating them product-wise, like Yandex and Yango. Remove the integration from the main product and make MAX a separate direction - with its own logic and positioning.
What do you think - am I reasoning correctly? Or am I paranoid for nothing? 👇
〰️〰️〰️
p.s. And a separate question - maybe I should just give up Apple and switch to Android so that all VK products are at hand? 😅 Just kidding. Almost.
