Kalakyrian was one of the districts of Eldamara in Aman. He was located in the region of Kalakyrya, through which the road from Dvuf Drev penetrated from Valinor to the elves. Therefore, Kalakyrian was considered the most dangerous place in all of Eldamara.

The main attraction of this region was the caves of Tuna. The nomads built Tirion, one of the greatest elvish cities. That disposition did something special: it stood not in Eldamara, but at the same time it was not in the blagotland either.

In the texts of Tolkiena, Kalakyrian is mentioned in the same context as Bilbo about Earendile, whose soul flies in Rivendelle. In those lines, the hero goes to the secret land of Kalakyrian, and before him sit the same fire. The mention is brief, but important: Kalakyrian is depicted as a portal between the mortal realms of Earendile and the deep, almost inaccessible Zapadom.

The name Calacirian is a modernized, Anglicized version of the Quennya form Kalakryan. The full form sounds like Kalakryandé and derives from Kalakrya, that is, Kalakyrya.
