I don't know about you, but my brain has been refusing to work for the second day—and that's with only +30°C outside.

If you open the news, it becomes clear that we got off easy. Europe is literally melting. In Spain and France, temperatures reached 📌45°C, and the WHO reported over 1,300 excess deaths related to heat in Europe since June 21.

So I decided it might be useful to remind why high temperatures are so dangerous.

When the brain senses overheating, it sends blood to the skin to cool down. ➡️ The heart has to pump it faster. ➡️ If you don't drink, blood volume decreases, it becomes thicker, and the strain on blood vessels increases.


Then the reports may dryly state: "heart attack," "stroke." The kidneys don't get enough blood, electrolytes are lost through sweat—and the heart, deprived of its usual balance, can go into arrhythmia.

So it turns out that heat doesn't so much kill by itself, but rather finishes off those whose systems were already working under increased load.

Hence the answer to why some people feel dizzy already at +30°C, while others briskly go for a third coffee at +40°C. It's not about willpower or northern pampering. Someone who gradually gets used to heat, over several days or weeks, rebuilds their entire cooling system: they start sweating earlier and more efficiently, sweat loses fewer salts, and blood circulation becomes more stable.

And here it turns out that the most accessible trainer for such adjustment is the sauna🌟. Regular heat, if approached wisely, can indeed trigger similar adaptation mechanisms.

And another well-known fact: +30°C in humid air can feel heavier than +40°C in dry air. Sweat must evaporate—that's our main built-in air conditioner. When humidity is high, evaporation stalls, and the cooling system starts working like an old fan in an accounting office: lots of noise, little effect.

So my heavy head today seems not a whim but an honest signal: the cooling system needs water, shade, and a break. I'll go pour some mineral water.
