Film was filmed primarily across several small towns in Connecticut, making it one of the few entries in the franchise shot on the East Coast. The production used real residential homes, lakeside roads, and a private family compound to stand in for the fictional Camp Crystal Lake area and surrounding locations. The Counselor Training Center, known in the film as Packanack Lodge, was actually located on a private lakefront property in Kent, CT, which the owner maintained in its filming-era condition until his passing around 2010, after which the structures were demolished and replaced by a luxury vacation home. Alice's exterior house was a real residence on Central Avenue in Waterbury that was razed around 2018 along with neighboring houses. The interior scenes for Alice's house were filmed at a behavioral health center in Torrington. Several scenes featuring characters driving and arriving at camp were shot along the scenic roads near Lake Waramaug in New Preston and Warren. The Lake Waramaug Casino, which appeared in the film, closed in 1981 and burned down in 1982, leaving no trace of the original building.
Filming locations:
Alice's House (Interior)
In the movie
Scene where the interior of Alice's home where she receives a phone call from her mother, moves through her kitchen, and is ultimately attacked by Jason. These tense indoor sequences leading to her death were all filmed inside this Torrington building rather than in the Waterbury exterior location.
In reality
The scene was filmed the McCall Center for Behavioral Health building at 58 High Street in Torrington, Connecticut. This facility was used for the interior shots of Alice's house. The building still stands and continues to operate as a behavioral health center, though its appearance has changed somewhat over the years with renovations and updates to the facility.
Alice's House (Exterior)
In the movie
Scene where Alice arrives at her home after surviving the events at Camp Crystal Lake. The exterior of this Waterbury house served as her residence where she tries to recover from her traumatic experience before Jason tracks her down in the film's opening sequence.
In reality
The scene was filmed a residential house at 47 Central Avenue in Waterbury, Connecticut. The house was used as the exterior of Alice's home in the film. It stood for decades after filming but was demolished around 2018 along with the two neighboring houses, leaving just an empty lot at the site. The surrounding neighborhood remains a typical Waterbury residential street.
