"Has the quality of products declined over the past few years?"

There are two criteria for food quality: safety and benefit.

In processed food, things have indeed gotten worse. Look even at baby food - the share of added sugar is increasing.

The share of disguised harmful ingredients is growing: Jerusalem artichoke syrup, date paste (excess simple sugars), table mineral water (excess salt), cheap inulin is passed off as life-saving fiber.

But not everything is as bad as supplement company marketers say.

For now, toxic additives are not added to gasoline, and vegetables still have only background levels of lead.

The variety of unprocessed products has significantly increased: nuts from Chile, avocados from Egypt, olives from Greece, cod from Murmansk, tomatoes from Uzbekistan, cucumbers from Lukhovitsy.

The beginnings of warning labeling are emerging: thank you for grocery chains that mark added sugar and salt in red.
