You know what's the hardest thing for a marketer? Selling yourself! 🤷♂️ Paradoxically, for me it's true - marketers are not trusted, it's one of the most contradictory professions.
Despite the fact that I can cut someone else's strategy from 30 pages to one and a half in two hours. I can find money where the owner sees only expenses. Win a tender for 80 million from a developer in four days, beating 22 competitors.
But sitting down and clearly talking about myself - I couldn't. I would open a resume file and see a dead thing that I didn't believe myself, and certainly wouldn't hire myself if I were looking for a good specialist for the team.
🐱 Agree, almost any classic resume is a pig in a poke, and questions that won't be answered until the company takes the risk of hiring you... Well, so what that you worked there and then for 5 years? What does that say? What can you give? How do you think? What can you do now, not then?
In the fat years, any idiot could work in any position and overall nothing terrible - a growing economy and market forgave incompetence and irresponsibility. Now the story is changing quickly. Now the market doesn't need hired workers, but talents for the team! ⚠️ And that changes everything!
And then it dawned on me. A resume in its usual form is a dating site profile. The employer looks at such a file and has to guess: will he fit? can he handle it? won't he run away in two months? And the most expensive thing in hiring is not the salary. It's the months until the new person either starts bringing in money or turns out to be a mistake. Today, business is not so easily taking that risk...
🫡 Thus was born what I now call the new age resume.
Not a list of jobs. But a story that shows a person in volume. How he thinks. What drives him. What tasks he solves better than others. In which team he will flourish, and in which he will wither. It removes blind spots and answers the main question even before the interview: "is this my person?"
I put one together for myself and for the first time saw on paper not functions, but myself. What I'm really worth hiring for. (Link below)
And now I want to put together the same for others.
Because look what's happening. The labor market is cracking, mass layoffs, AI is already creating an imbalance. Soon there will be a fight for a good place, and the winner will not be the one with the longer list, but the one who is clearly placeable. Whose value is visible and understandable.
The sooner you find your place, your team, and your opportunities - the more chances you have not to flounder, but to grow.
If you are looking for a job or want to finally take a place where you will be understood and appreciated - let's put together such a resume-story for you. A story of skills instead of a questionnaire. Meanings instead of a job title. A person-talent instead of a pig in a poke.
👉 Write to me — let's discuss how to show you so that the employer wants exactly you. @EseninSA
And if you have a friend who is looking for a job or afraid of layoffs - repost. It might change their life.
