A few months ago, I wrote a post mentioning working with mentors. After that, I received repeated questions: "but where do you find these mentors?". Today I will tell you in detail about all the possible options that I know as of today.

But first, let me briefly describe the main criteria by which you can understand whether a person is suitable for the mentor position for you or not:
1️⃣ Their expertise in the area you need is 3+ times higher than yours
2️⃣ If it's a business mentor: their income is 5+ times greater than yours
3️⃣ Again, for business: ideally, the mentor is developing a business in the same field as you. But this is not a mandatory condition
4️⃣ Age difference of at least 7 years

It is critically important that there is a big gap between you, otherwise the mentor may consider you a competitor and refuse to help you. But this does not mean that other forms of mentoring are completely impossible.

Now let's discuss where you can find those very mentors (from simpler to more complex options):

1️⃣At your job
If you are currently employed, a good idea might be to go to top management and ask them questions. This is especially convenient in small companies - you can easily get a mentor at the C-level.

2️⃣Communities
Due to the high trust between community members, finding a mentor in them is not so difficult. For example, I found my current business partner and also a mentor in various areas of life at a leadership program. Another one I met in a business community. In fact, opportunities are almost always there, we just don't notice them and don't use them.

By the way, in our club a mentoring system is already implemented - you can quickly find an experienced entrepreneur with revenue from 100 to 1500 million rubles per year who will help you and share experience on a regular basis.

3️⃣Business schools/trainings
It is convenient to find strong mentors at various trainings and courses. The main thing here is to be able to present yourself well and clearly explain how you can be useful to the mentor.

4️⃣Events
Forums, themed parties, and exhibitions - these are all places where you can find a mentor.

5️⃣Through another mentor
If you have at least one mentor - congratulations! Now you can ask them to introduce you to other people from their circle, which greatly simplifies the process of finding a mentor and establishing contact with them. The difficulty here is that for this step you must already have at least one mentor.
