Can you play the entire history of piano in one evening? Pyotr Aidu is sure: it is perhaps possible to exhaust the history of the instrument itself, but to perform everything interesting written for it — no longer.
At the opening of the festival "Prove-Kalish Piano", the musician led listeners through several eras — from Beethoven and Russian Romanticism to Scriabin, Berg, Steve Reich, and a pre-premiere showing of his own composition Sonatrip 3.
After the concert, musicologist and author of the channel @chamber_music Daria Sukovykh @darystp (thanks to her) talked with Pyotr Aidu about "sportive pianism", forgotten Russian music, psychological transformation during the performance of Piano Phase, and pianos that do not help the musician but force them to struggle.
It turned out, as always, great.
