Made another copy of the gold edition of the Obsidian Triad, I'll show it too + a bit of the process and internal pictures.
The cover is first printed with black powder on black paper, then gilding is done with a special foil that sticks to the powder when heated. I'm attaching a video: in case someone's Telegram still allows watching them.

Also, this book has different endpapers: it's no longer marbled paper (which is colored with acrylic floating on starch), but paste paper - sorry, I don't know the appropriate Russian term. This happens when after gluing the spine there is leftover paste that you feel sorry to throw away. You can drop some acrylic into it and then put the resulting paste on a sheet. It dries slowly, drying into a three-dimensional pattern. It shines beautifully.
