I want to check how you think. Here's a case 🕯
From Friday to Friday you've been reading how I've been piecing this together. Time to show the whole thing.
DATA NOIR 🔥
Night, lamp, desk, a case file.
You examine the crime scene, search for suspects by description, interrogate, catch lies, pull threads between clues on the board.
You talk to the world of the case with SQL queries. But no one forces you to learn SQL. A query is just a key for a specific door.
first you decide which door to open, and then you look for the key for it
There's no right button here 🔎
This is an adventure where you make every decision personally.
No one will highlight the right clue. Suspects lie. The most obvious suspect is often a trap.
In the case of the stolen record, the first one to come to hand is a wealthy collector. The motive is on the surface, money is there, reputation is so-so.
Check him out. See what happens ))
There is no clearly correct path. There is your version and the facts that either support it or tear it apart. If you accuse wrongly, minus $10 from your token and back to the facts.
What's behind this 🛠
A year and a half of notes, then assembly. The lamp light, the board with threads, the table schema, the rewritten onboarding—I've already written about each of these here, I won't go through it again.
Just keep in mind what's behind this picture.
How to get in 🤔
data-noir.com
Important: right now the portal only opens via VPN. Turn it on.
Start with case #0, it's a trial run. They'll walk you through it. After that, you're on your own.
A request, and it's serious 🙏
The project lives as long as people play it.
I redid the onboarding only because one person sat down at the table and honestly said where it was bad for them. I can't see those places anymore myself, I've gotten used to them.
That's how one person's idea turns into a collective solution. But for that, we need players.
Share the project with everyone you can. Work chat, DMs, a colleague who loves brain teasers. Right now that's the help that's needed most.
