Demyansk marked the 83rd anniversary of the liberation of the settlement and district from the Nazi invaders.

Commemorative events began at the sign "Settlement of Military Valor." There, representatives of authorities, veterans, search teams, Yunarmiya members, schoolchildren, residents, and guests of the settlement gathered.

Then participants marched to the Memorial to the Soldiers of the Northwestern Front, where a rally took place. The head of the Demyansk district, Andrey Sapogov, congratulated those present on the memorable date and Defender of the Fatherland Day and spoke about the courage of the defenders of their native land.

At the rally, Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture and Property Relations of the Novgorod Region, curator of the Demyansk district, Kirill Volchugin, spoke. He conveyed words of gratitude to the veterans and honored the memory of the fallen. The chairman of the Council of Veterans of the Armed Forces of Russia for the Demyansk district, Valery Vinogradov, also took the floor.

The memory of the heroes was honored with a minute of silence. After that, wreaths and flowers were laid at the memorial plaque.
