In Blagoveshchensk, a 26-year-old man, already convicted of theft and robbery, decided to steal a car. In the parking lot, he noticed a car with the engine running while the owner was sitting in a cafe. Before getting behind the wheel, the man took a selfie in front of someone else's car, and this moment was captured on video.

He didn't get far. The chip key was with the owner, and the car stalled. The man abandoned the car and ran away.

A few days later, he was detained for hooliganism in a store; at the station, it turned out that he was the same person from the selfie. The man is now in a pre-trial detention center, and an investigation is underway. Photos and video were published by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Amur Region.
