▶️ Xiaomi has released a new compact MagSafe-compatible power bank — the Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W. It is only 6 mm thick and weighs 98 g.
▶️ As the overly detailed name suggests, this is a 5000 mAh external battery that can deliver up to 15W wirelessly via Qi2 technology. At the bottom, there is a USB-C port, typically used to charge the power bank itself, but it can also charge your phone faster since wired output reaches 22.5W.
▶️ The power bank is small but powerful enough to charge two devices simultaneously: one wirelessly and one via the USB-C port (press the power button to activate this mode).
▶️ There are a few nuances. The Xiaomi 17 can be charged wirelessly at full power — 15W. However, the 17th model lacks built-in magnets, so you will need a magnetic case. Wireless charging will work without magnets, but it is less convenient than when the power bank is attached to the phone with magnets. The iPhone will only get 7.5W from the power bank.
▶️ Dimensions: 98.5 × 71.5 × 6 mm. This is slightly narrower than the Xiaomi 17 (71.8 mm) and exactly the same width as the iPhone 17. The power bank also fits models like the Galaxy S25 (70.5 mm, but you will still need a case) and the Pixel 10 (72.0 mm).
▶️ The Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank (MDY-20-EB) has an aluminum alloy body in three colors. The side that attaches to the phone is made of fiberglass.
▶️ The battery itself is a silicon-carbon cell with 16% silicon content, rated at 18.58 Wh (typical capacity 18.95 Wh). Cooling is provided by a graphite sheet with an area of 4369 mm². The battery includes multiple protection mechanisms against overvoltage, undervoltage, overcharge, overdischarge, overcurrent, overheating, electrostatic discharge, etc.
▶️ The Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W is already available in some markets: priced at AUD 69.50 in Australia, SGD 69.90 in Singapore, and JPY 5980 in Japan. However, we have not found it in other countries.
