Already in 2026, 40%
of apps will have built-in AI

Researcher Nilesh Barla published a large review *The AI Research Landscape in 2026*, where AI summed up 2025 and made predictions for the coming years — and they look tough.
According to the analysis and Gartner data, by mid-2026, 40% of enterprise applications will use AI agents, compared to less than 5% at the beginning of 2025. That's an eightfold increase in a year and a half — AI is finally moving from experiments to production.

The authors note that the main breakthrough of 2025 was the transformation of reasoning models into agents: AI began to use computation during testing and lay out multiple reasoning paths for a single task instead of one linear answer.
The next step — 2027: apps will feature multiple AI agents simultaneously, working like colleagues — distributing roles, checking each other, and jointly solving complex problems.
