🦌 Deer dig for food under the snow

I drove a couple of kilometers from Salekhard, and here's the beauty: deer foraging freely. It's -30°C outside and the sun is simply nuclear. I couldn't miss this. I froze and completely drained the battery on my camera (I haven't sorted through the footage yet).

For those who don't know, reindeer feed on reindeer moss, which they find under the snow.

When a deer smells reindeer moss under the snow, it starts hitting the snow with its hoof, digging a hole, and then tears it open with its snout down to the ground and food.

Males are the first to dig through deep snow and feed on plant food, then females forage in the same areas. Finally, weakened animals and calves are allowed to feed.
