Nikolay Asyka, the 'patriarch of Belgorod agriculture,' has died. The Honored Agronomist of the RSFSR passed away at the age of 97.

The death of Nikolay Asyka was reported by Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov. The honorary citizen of the Belgorod region died at the age of 96.

Gladkov called this a great loss for the region. According to the governor, Nikolay Romanovich developed a scientifically based farming system, which became the foundation for the development of agriculture in the Belgorod region.

The head of the region said that Asyka left a great scientific legacy and trained a school of agronomists. Gladkov added that the scientist's proposals will continue to be implemented by his followers.
