In Russia, newlyweds are increasingly refusing lavish weddings. Rising prices are forcing them to replace large celebrations with modest dinners for close ones, and organizers say couples often cancel large-scale parties due to the rising cost of services.
The average check for food has reached 8–10 thousand rubles per person. Decor has become 650% more expensive over four years. To stay within budget, they choose minimalist venues and often do a lot themselves, from seating arrangements to hall decoration.
The conflict in the industry adds to the problems. Organizers have raised commissions to 15%, causing hosts and contractors to boycott intermediaries. It is now almost impossible to offset the cost of the celebration with gifts.
