▶️ Xiaomi has released a tracker called the Xiaomi Tag. We have one of these trackers in hand, and we can name several reasons why you should choose it over trackers from other brands.

▶️ First, here's how you can get it: one beacon costs €18, and a pack of four costs €60. For comparison, the second-generation Apple AirTag costs €35 (or €120 for four), the Samsung SmartTag2 costs €40 (€130 for four), and the Moto Tag 2 also costs €40 (€130 for four). It's nothing new that Xiaomi undercuts competitors' prices, but in this case, the price difference is two times or more.

▶️ Second, Xiaomi has outdone everyone in terms of design — the tag's thickness is only 7.2 mm. The thickness of Apple, Samsung, and Motorola tags is 8 mm. The difference of less than a millimeter may seem insignificant, but it matters when you're trying to slip the tag into a wallet or the inner pocket of a travel bag or backpack.

▶️ Xiaomi has put extra effort into the design: a metal ring allows you to attach the device to a keychain. Only Samsung has this feature, while Apple and Motorola require a special case. However, the hole is quite small and cannot be hung on a carabiner like Samsung's.

▶️ It's a compromise: the Xiaomi tag is 46.5 mm high and 31 mm wide, while the Samsung tag is taller at 52.4 mm and slightly narrower at 28.8 mm. You can always put a key ring on the Xiaomi tag if you want to attach it to a carabiner.

▶️ Unlike its competitors, the Xiaomi Tag does not tie you to a single ecosystem — it works with Apple Find My and Google Android Find Hub. Unfortunately, it cannot work with both systems simultaneously. Nevertheless, these tags will last you for years, and you won't have to replace them if you decide to switch from Apple to Android.

▶️ Speaking of long-term use, inside is a standard CR2032 coin cell battery that lasts about a year.

▶️ The tag uses Bluetooth LE 5.4 for location tracking. When you get close enough, you can activate a piezoelectric buzzer to find the lost item. Additionally, you can put the tag in lost mode — this allows you to add contact information for whoever finds it. They just need to tap their phone to read the built-in NFC tag. Note that this only works with the Apple Find My feature.

▶️ The Xiaomi Tag has an IP67 rating, so you can attach it to the outside of a backpack or suitcase without worrying about dust, dirt, and water damaging it over time. It is covered with a scratch-resistant material that keeps it looking good.
