🎦 Wanted: Strange Movies.

"Mom, let's watch a strange movie!" - asks my child of the smartphone generation, for whom the movies of my youth are an unprecedented exoticism that breaks patterns. And then I strain my memory and recall another film that impressed me at the time with something and stuck in my soul. And then we watch it. I should have kept a list from the start, because a lot of what we watched has been forgotten. But here are the latest (plus my explanation, after which the child agreed: yes, the movie is indeed strange, let's watch!).

- The Story of Voyages - a Soviet film in the dark fantasy genre. A boy has a rare gift: he gets terrible headaches if there is gold nearby. Two scoundrels learn about this and kidnap him, and his older sister tries to save him.

- Who Framed Roger Rabbit - a detective story in a world where cartoons live alongside humans. Half of the characters are drawn, superimposed on live-action footage with real actors.

- Some Like It Hot - a comedy with Marilyn Monroe and jazz in that very setting in which we are currently playing a Call of Cthulhu adventure.

- The City of Lost Children - a dark but stylish fairy tale about a port city where everything is strange: from blind cultists to Siamese twin teachers. And there is also an equally strange game based on this film.

- Krabat, the Sorcerer's Apprentice - a German dark fantasy with a surprisingly bright soul. You have never seen a school of wizards like this. And the main character looks exactly like you.

- Planet of Storms - a Soviet sci-fi film about an expedition to Venus, which is forgotten here but studied in foreign film academies. Foreigners have taken it apart frame by frame and used it all in a bunch of their films, starting with "Alien".

- The Lords of Time - hurray, I finally found that forgotten film from my childhood, of which I had only seen a snippet: where a little boy survives alone on an alien planet, and his only company is a communication device that gives strange advice.

- Gandahar - a magnificent hand-drawn visual madness. A truly alien planet with truly alien logic and problems, plus a time loop to boot.

- Fire and Ice - a cartoon created using rotoscoping, with the legendary Frazetta participating in the drawing.

- The Princess Bride - my favorite fairy tale from childhood. And that popular phrase "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die," which has been turned into memes, is from there!
