Navigation on the Angara River opened in Irkutsk Region from today. The Center of the State Inspectorate for Small Vessels asks to watch the weather and wait until the ice drift passes, because going out on the water in early spring is dangerous.

A dangerous situation can arise due to wind and low temperatures. Ice may form on the vessel, reducing stability and causing the boat to capsize. If you fall into the water, hypothermia sets in quickly, and you may not make it to the shore. A life jacket keeps you afloat but does not warm you.

The vessel owner must keep the small vessel in good working order to avoid being stranded with a breakdown on the water. On board there must be at least two oars in case of engine failure, as well as navigation instruments and communication equipment.

According to a decree of the Government of Irkutsk Region, the navigation season on other rivers will begin on May 1.
