I don't know about you, but I'm a big fan of Taylor Sheridan's television pastorals.
I'm not strong on the ranch theme, but in "Landman" the moments when they intentionally or accidentally show what is not usually brought to light are appealing.
In one of the episodes of the second season, they show the Permian Basin International Oil Show - a mix of an exhibition of achievements in the oil and gas industry and a scientific-practical conference. The plot returns a couple of times to a booth where a wonder of wonders is exhibited: an automatic drilling key.
Drillers, looking at it, discuss a future where there is no place for them, and the chief engineer looks reproachfully at the consultant who talks about how the automatic drilling key will help him reduce labor costs.
And in this short moment, the main difference between the American and Russian economies is clearly shown. Or rather, even the difference in the key indicator of their health. If for us it is low inflation, as a legacy of the collapse of the 1990s, then in the USA it is a distant echo of the Great Depression: low unemployment.
