Residents of building 104B on Belgorodsky Prospekt prevented power engineers from accessing the substation when a backup generator was being installed in the yard.
The residents said the generator was to be placed less than ten meters from the windows. The generator is also needed for a neighboring residential building. Residents believe it was not installed on the neighboring territory because that area is landscaped, while the yard of 104B is small. This led to the conflict.
Belgorod Mayor Valentin Demidov said that neighboring buildings are also powered by this substation. Due to the refusal to install, they could have been left without electricity. Demidov added that the backup power source is connected in accordance with the law.
At an operational meeting, the mayor said he spoke with the residents and explained the situation. The authorities and residents agreed to move the generator to the other side of the substation.
