🥶 Planetary Center of Cold
Over the next 10 days, Yamal will become the epicenter of the most powerful negative anomaly on the planet. Temperatures here will deviate from the norm by 16–18 degrees — no other point on Earth is expected to see such an extreme departure from usual values.
In terms of anomaly magnitude, Yamal will be the absolute leader: the average temperature will be around –32 °C, which, against the backdrop of an already harsh local norm, is an exceptional phenomenon. For comparison, in Oymyakon, traditionally considered the "pole of cold," the average temperature is expected to be only about –20 °C.
The scale of the anomaly is clearly demonstrated by the forecast for Salekhard: in the coming days, nighttime frosts will reach –38…–43 °C, and daytime temperatures will not rise above –25…–28 °C.
