In the wine industry, there have been no adventures, legislative innovations, or similar things for a long time.
TASS is authorized to state that (hereinafter quote)
"the authorities plan to index excise taxes at an accelerated pace on "harmful consumption". This follows from documents approved by the Russian government, which TASS has reviewed.
We are talking about tobacco, alcohol, alcohol-containing products, and sugar-containing drinks. Already in 2026-2027, excise taxes on them will be indexed above the inflation rate.
As follows from the documents, the accelerated increase in excise taxes on "harmful" products is now enshrined among measures for the development of tax and fee legislation."
In the case of wine, it will all end with another drop in consumption of the drink and an even greater distance from normal gastronomic culture, because there will be nothing to pair it with.
Well, and with a decline in employment in the industry (and related industries).
