Reg.cloud has brought a nice update for those who live on managed PostgreSQL and MySQL databases.

Now DBaaS offers up to 7 daily backups with storage for the last 7 days, which you can independently restore as a new cluster without contacting support — the original cluster continues to work, so you can safely test recovery and plan a switchover without downtime. For PostgreSQL, Point-in-Time Recovery has been added to roll back as close as possible to the moment of a logical error or a bad deployment.

The infrastructure has also been upgraded: Moscow-1 has been joined by a second availability zone in a new data center in Medvedkovo (Moscow-2) with the same pricing and functionality — you can localize data, distribute load between sites, and build a more resilient architecture to meet business and regulatory requirements.

Interesting metrics: 60% of clients choose the minimum 1 vCPU / 1 GB RAM / 20 GB, another 21% take 2 vCPU / 4 GB RAM / 80 GB — demand is clearly shifting towards configurations balanced in price and performance for development and production.
