The week somehow ended abruptly. Time to praise myself 😎
I caught myself thinking the same old thought again. As soon as I try to make something "perfect" right away, everything starts to go wrong. I want results too early, even though I haven't really figured things out yet. In the end, you don't speed up, you just get stuck in place.
With dashboards, this is a classic. You sit down to make it "beautiful," get stuck on details, tinker with it for days... and then you look and realize half of it could have been done simpler and faster.
I remembered the Airbnb case. Some of their listings were hardly booked. You could spend a long time looking for reasons, building hypotheses, complicating things. But it turned out to be trivial: people just had bad photos. Dark, crooked. They started helping with decent shots, and everything went up. Nothing heroic, just hit the mark.
My week was about the same.
I started figuring out video shooting. So far, it's mediocre in places. But I'm already starting to see the difference. I'm experimenting with light, composition, leaving a bit more "air" in the frame. A couple of times I rewatched what I shot earlier, and it's painful to watch, of course 😎
Along the way, I'm jotting down ideas in a notebook. Not everything works out, but it's already clear that some principles can be easily transferred to dashboards and team training. We'll see what comes of it. If it doesn't fall apart along the way, I'll try to apply it at work and share with you.
The rest was pretty calm. No sudden moves. And that's even good. Right now there's time to properly finish what I've been putting off. Then the hustle will start, and there won't be time for that.
Now it's your turn 🔥
