Some time ago there was a story going around; I'll leave the fact-checking to internet researchers.
In Soviet times, export Kamaz trucks were made for Latin America, and they were even in demand there. However, they didn't always manage to produce the required volumes, so often instead of export models, they sent ordinary Soviet Kamaz trucks. Naturally, the export ones had the inscription KAMAZ, while the Soviet ones had КАМАЗ. After a while, the factory noticed that the Kamaz trucks for the Soviet market were more popular than the export ones. A small investigation showed that in Latin America, people thought it was a car called KAMA, so they liked KAMA 3 more than KAMA 2.
For me, this is a statement that, of course, would never satisfy anyone at a pitch session, but in reality, it works. Often you don't need any unique selling proposition. Sometimes you need strong marketing and simply meeting the audience's needs, while you can be a worse product than what's already on the market.
