The Oscars have barely died down, where Stellan Skarsgård received a nomination for "Sentimental Value," a film with Elle Fanning, when the actor has already signed on for a new project — this time with her sister, Dakota.
Apple TV is preparing a currently untitled thriller series from Alexander Cary — the same one behind "Homeland." Dakota Fanning plays an undercover agent from the U.S. Treasury Department who infiltrates a multi-billion dollar international conglomerate with political and criminal tentacles worldwide. Skarsgård gets the charismatic Brandt — the head of this conglomerate.
The twist is that the agent gradually begins to believe that the heir to this entire corrupt empire is essentially a good person. And, it seems, she falls in love. A classic of the genre, but in the right hands it could be very cool.
Directing is handled by Kari Skogland ("The Falcon and the Winter Soldier"), production by Sony Pictures Television.
