🗯 We Are Launching a New Podcast Series "Gutter Talk: A Podcast About Comics in Russia"
The word "gutter" came into comics from philately, where it denoted the empty spaces between stamps on a printed sheet. But in illustrated stories, the gaps between panels don't have to be completely empty—they often contain footnotes, visual markers of time and space, or full-fledged borderless fragments of the story. So, together with the guests of our new podcast about comics, we aim to get to the non-obvious nuances and share interesting and little-known aspects of the modern visual storytelling industry, both with experienced comic readers and those who are just beginning to take an interest in this art form, which is new to many.
Our first guest is Ike Vardanyan, a screenwriter and producer, creator and editor-in-chief of the portal "Russian Comics," director of the WishUP studio, and organizer of fundraising for the release of the comic almanac series "The Call of Cthulhu." We talk about the role of a producer in the comic industry, international projects in culture and economics, the specifics of crowdfunding, and creative collaboration with large organizations.
