
⚡️ Laser communication accelerated to 360 Gbit/s
Engineers at the University of Cambridge have developed a new wireless data transmission technology using light.
21 out of 25 available lasers were used. A speed of 362.7 Gbit/s was achieved at a distance of two meters. Each laser transmitted data at speeds from 13 to 19 Gbit/s.
💥 Power consumption was about 1.4 nanojoules per bit, which is approximately 2 times less compared to traditional Wi-Fi.
The technology can be used in offices, homes, and data centers.
