Every third word of the year is about politics

The RE:source team created an interactive dashboard with Words of the Year from 9 different sources for 2015-2024. The study includes both Russian and foreign words in 6 categories.

The most numerous were political words — 27 of them. In second place, with a gap of 9 words, is the "Culture" category.

Interesting points:

🌀Collins Dictionary keeps pace with the tech agenda. It is the only one that chose AI as the word of the year (2023), and before that it had NFT (2021).
🌀Oxford stopped tracking the world and started tracking TikTok — the last 3 years' words reflect cultural trends.
