🫟 ChatGPT down worldwide: OpenAI tracks outage

On Monday morning, April 20, 2026, thousands of users around the world faced the inability to access ChatGPT.

The outage began at approximately 17:05 Moscow time, when the number of complaints on the Downdetector platform sharply increased. In the UK, there were > 7,600 reports of issues; in the US, about 1,700; a similar number of complaints came from India.

According to Downdetector, 86 percent of reports were directly related to ChatGPT's operation, 8 percent to mobile apps, and 4 percent to login issues.
Moneycontrol: OpenAI acknowledged a partial outage affecting ChatGPT and Codex.

However, the company did not publish details about the causes of the incidents.
