All three finishers of the London Marathon ran the distance faster than the world record. The winner was Kenyan Save, who won this competition for the second consecutive time.

Save finished with a time of 1 hour 59 minutes 30 seconds. He becomes the first person in history to run an official marathon in under 2 hours.

The previous world record had stood since October 2023, when his compatriot Kelvin Kiptum posted a time of 2 hours and 35 seconds at the Chicago Marathon.

Save is 30 years old.
