Warp goes open source 🧑‍💻

Warp (now such tools are fashionably called Agentic Development Environment) has released its client code as open source.
5 years of development, tons of venture money, and now they've opened the client source code. If you think this is about the ideals of free software — ha-ha.

In the official announcement, the CEO states the basics directly: to compete with wealthy closed-source all-in-one tools (e.g., Cursor), they simply lack human and financial resources.

So they decided to hack the system. Why hire hundreds of developers when you can turn the community into free QA engineers and product managers for neural networks?
Here's what the project development process now looks like:
1️⃣ You find a bug or come up with a feature.
2️⃣ Create an issue with a spec.
3️⃣ The cloud agent orchestrator Oz (based on OpenAI models, which also sponsored the party) writes the code.
4️⃣ You review the generation and check that nothing broke.

And they also added support for a zoo of open-source models for local experiments: Kimi, MiniMax, Qwen + automatic routing between them.
