Emotions at work are unacceptable: they offend others, waste time and resources, and show our vulnerability.
Yes/no?

Look at it from another perspective. Why does the question "what do you feel when this happens?" leave you stumped? Because delving into your emotions is scary; it can suck you in like a swamp. But what if, by answering this question for ourselves, we: a) experience emotions and prevent them from accumulating, b) find the true cause of the reaction, and can choose a useful action.

Fear, resentment, anger, and other emotions we call negative are signals through which our brain communicates with us. If we perceive them not as a threat, but as a call informing us of violated boundaries, unmet ambitions, desires, etc., we can adjust our actions and choose the right direction. What emotions can tell us is written in the cards.

How to work with emotions in the moment (even if they appear during work):
📍 Identify the emotion - I am angry/anxious/offended
📍 Think about what caused it
This is already enough to release the emotion

To go further and understand, ask yourself:
🌟what is this emotion telling me?
🌟what need is it expressing?
🌟how can I use this information?

Over time, by noticing our emotions, matching them with situations, understanding what they signal, we learn to understand ourselves and manage our reactions.
In coaching sessions, noticing and exploring emotions is an integral part of the process.
