One of the worst feelings for me is when you start something, gain momentum, and then for some reason stop. And contrary to the expectation that it's just a short pause, not a complete stop, the pit turns out to be deeper, and you just can't climb out of it.

It's always hard to start something new: running in the morning, maintaining a blog, learning a new language. But when you're just starting, you have a wonderful natural dope — the feeling of novelty. You surf on dopamine waves, and it feels great. New sensations, new experiences, everything is cool.

But if you suddenly need to go through this path again, it becomes not so fun and wonderful. And instead of the feeling of novelty, you now have a nagging sensation in the background that you've already stumbled once. And everything moves with such a creak that you really want to give up.

Usually, a post takes me at most fifteen minutes. Today I sat over it for almost an hour, and about half the time I just stared at the blinking cursor in the middle of an empty page, trying to find the opening words.

At the same time, I definitely have something to talk about. Recently, I've read two books by Newport, significantly updated '101 Posts', built a couple of new pet projects, and managed to go to St. Petersburg for the weekend.

In short, I'll try to return to the blog again. And you won't even have to wait for Monday, because it's already today.

And if you have something — an activity, a hobby, a book, plans — that you just can't get back to, consider this a sign from above: it's time to make another attempt. Today.
