Recently, in one of the digests, I came across an idea that I keep returning to now and then. I want to share it with you.

As a rule, we perceive pressure as a threat. Deadlines are burning, people expect something from you, you need to make a decision — all of this is hard and unpleasant. You want to exhale and have everyone leave you alone.

But here's the trick. Pressure arises only when your decisions matter and people count on you. Pressure is not a threat. It's a sign that you've grown to a level where something really depends on you.

And the flip side: when there is no pressure, when no one expects anything from you and doesn't count on you — that's not freedom. It just means you're simply not needed by anyone.

So next time you feel overwhelmed, try to reframe it: not "they're pressuring me," but "I matter." Pressure is a privilege.
