Fathers are returning to the screens! We are, of course, talking about Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen in the new Disney mini-series "Obi-Wan Kenobi." Before the premiere, let's figure out who's who in the fresh project.

Specific plot details about the series on the great Jedi are still scarce. It is clear that Disney's ambitious project, expanding the already vast universe of Star Wars, will focus on the story of Obi-Wan Kenobi, mentor not only to Anakin Skywalker but also to generations of saga fans. The action will unfold immediately after the fateful events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, when Anakin (Hayden Christensen) was consumed by the dark side and his transformation into Darth Vader was completed. Grief-stricken Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor) no longer wants to train anyone or save the world; he watches over young Luke (Anakin's son) and hides from the Empire on Tatooine. Whether he can stay hidden from the world — we'll find out in the series.

In the meantime, let's prepare and recall who's who in the Star Wars universe, and what new characters to expect.

Ewan McGregor — Obi-Wan Kenobi

Master, Jedi, mentor to Anakin Skywalker, who helped him conceal his romance with Natalie Portman, i.e., Padmé Amidala. Once, Obi-Wan saved young Anakin from slavery on Tatooine, and later showed a few Jedi tricks to Luke. In the 1977 "A New Hope," old Obi-Wan was played by Alec Guinness.

Hayden Christensen — Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker

The man in the black helmet who speaks through a slit, one of the main antagonists of the Resistance and personally of Luke Skywalker in the original trilogy of the 70s-80s, also the father of Luke and Leia. Back then, Darth Vader was played by David Prowse — the author of that epochal line "Luke, I am your father."

In the prequel trilogy, Christensen's Anakin is a promising Jedi who has just turned to the dark side. By the way, Hayden intends to return to the role of Darth Vader in the future series "Ahsoka."

Rupert Friend — Grand Inquisitor

Former guard at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant during the Republic. Disillusioned with the light side, he joined the Sith Lord Darth Sidious and then became the head of the Galactic Empire's Inquisitorius. He hunts Jedi who survived the first wave of the Order's destruction. He also searched for Force-sensitive children.

Moses Ingram — Inquisitor Reva / Third Sister

A Jedi during the Republic, after the fall of the Jedi Order she became an agent of the Galactic Empire's Inquisitorius. Her code name is Third Sister. She searched for Force-sensitive children.

Joel Edgerton — Owen Lars

Husband of Beru Lars, adoptive uncle of Luke Skywalker. Raised the future hope of the Jedi as his own son, making him a hardworking farmer. Lived with his wife and nephew on Tatooine. The actor returns to his old role from the film "Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith."

Bonnie Piesse — Beru Lars

Friend and later wife of Owen Lars, adoptive aunt of Luke Skywalker. Lived happily with her husband on a farm on Tatooine until Obi-Wan Kenobi asked them to take in young Luke. The actress also returned to her role from the film "Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith."

Grant Feely — Young Luke Skywalker

The kid who got the role of that Jedi guy — the hope for all Jedi. Later (or earlier, if you remember it's the 80s) played by a young Mark Hamill, he will hear the iconic line about his father.

Sung Kang — Fifth Brother

A Jedi during the time of the Republic. After the fall of the Jedi Order, he became an agent of the Galactic Empire's Inquisitorius, receiving the code name Fifth Brother. His mission, like that of other Inquisitors, is to find and eliminate Force-sensitive children. A distinctive feature is his spinning red lightsaber.

Let us remind you that the director of the upcoming "Obi-Wan Kenobi" is Deborah Chow, who worked on another project in this universe, "The Mandalorian". She was also involved in the projects "Mr. Robot" and "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman.

When "Obi-Wan Kenobi" was announced, some fans felt joy because finally one of the main Jedi (and characters) of the Star Wars universe would get his well-deserved solo project. Others had mixed feelings, still not forgetting the pain from the last three films with Daisy Ridley. And "The Book of Boba Fett" has a dubious reputation. Well, the trailer for "Obi-Wan" looks promising. But whether Star Wars fans will ultimately cry bitter tears of disappointment — we'll find out very soon. And of course, it's interesting: will a de-aged Mark Hamill be shown in this series as well?
