Remembering and discussing what we saw in Episode 5 of Season 2 of 'The Mandalorian'.
Episode «The Jedi», directed by Dave Filoni, predictably became one of the brightest and most important episodes for the story. Din Djarin, aka The Mandalorian, finally reached a Jedi named Ahsoka Tano, and besides that, we learned the Baby's real name and got a hint at the presence in the series of one of the most powerful antagonists of the entire saga «Star Wars». Let's take a closer look at all the events we saw.

The First Jedi in 'The Mandalorian' Series
Before watching the new episode, many fans of the series suspected that the anticipated appearance of the first Jedi in the show might not be obvious. It could have been a cameo or another tease for the audience, like with Boba Fett. But no. Ahsoka Tano, played by Rosario Dawson, debuted in full glory from the very beginning of the episode, when, like a ninja, she dispatched a bunch of soldiers and threatened the leader of the city of Calodan to surrender or pay for his crimes.
A Priceless Bounty for a Jedi's Head
Later, Mando and the Baby arrive in the same gloomy Calodan. The city leader immediately recognizes the stranger as a Mandalorian and offers him a spear made of beskar as a reward for killing Ahsoka Tano. Din Djarin does not agree, as he has other tasks, but he asks where he can find the Jedi.
Heading into the wastelands near Calodan, the Mandalorian quickly encounters Ahsoka Tano. And encounters in the literal sense — the heroes immediately engage in a fight, mindful of the long-standing enmity between Mandalorians and Jedi. The battle is stopped by the name of Bo-Katan, who sent Din Djarin to the planet Corvus.
What Is the Baby's Real Name?
The Mandalorian introduces Ahsoka Tano to the Baby and leaves them alone. During this time, it is revealed that the real name of the member of Yoda's species is Grogu, and he is closely connected to the Force, as he was taught by many masters at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, from where the Baby was kidnapped.
No more 'Baby Yoda.' Grogu. We'll have to get used to it, but apparently, this is the way.
Ahsoka Tano decides to test Grogu's powers in the traditional Jedi way — moving rocks, but the Baby refuses to do it. Then Rosario Dawson's character suggests Mando convince his companion to do it: not with the rock, but it works — Grogu pulls one of the Mandalorian's gadgets towards himself.
Ahsoka Tano refuses to take Grogu as a student because the Baby has developed a strong attachment to Mando, and this, in her words, could easily sway the hero to the dark side. Ahsoka herself, as is known, was Anakin Skywalker's Padawan, so she understands perfectly what she is talking about. And we all remember what Anakin's close attachment to Padmé led to.
The Mandalorian tells the Jedi that he was tasked with killing her, but he offers his help in exchange for Ahsoka agreeing to take Grogu as a Padawan.
Grand Admiral Thrawn
The Mandalorian and Ahsoka Tano head together to Calodan to free the local residents from the oppression of Morgan Elsbeth, and also to obtain the beskar spear and information about whom the city leader serves.
While the Jedi distracts the attention and methodically deals with Elsbeth's guards, Mando releases the shackled settlers.
Later, the time comes for the final duels between Mando and Elsbeth's henchman (played by Michael Biehn from 'The Terminator'), Morgan herself, and Ahsoka Tano, from which the latter, of course, emerges victorious. But the most interesting thing here is not that, but that we learn the Jedi is hunting for Grand Admiral Thrawn, one of the main antagonists of the 'Rebels' animated series and simply one of the leaders of the Empire. Whether this means we will see this tactical genius and ruthless tyrant is not yet clear, but you must admit, it would be extremely interesting.
What's Next?
Despite the help, Ahsoka Tano still refuses to train Grogu, but she suggests to the Mandalorian what he can do. She advises the travelers to go to the planet Tython, where the Baby can remember the past and call out to other remaining Jedi. Who exactly Ahsoka means is unclear, perhaps it's about Ezra Bridger or, you never know, Cal Kestis from the game Fallen Order. For now, we can only speculate.
Now the heroes will head to the center of the galaxy, which the Mandalorian carefully tried to avoid due to all sorts of dangers. A confrontation with Moff Gideon becomes almost inevitable. Let's see what else will surprise us.
Personal Impressions:
It's hard to stop praising the creators for the cool and varied action. This time, we were shown spectacular fights using a lightsaber. It looked especially cool in the debut of the episode, when Ahsoka appeared and disappeared in the fog, and also in the moment when she activated her saber similarly to how she did it in the battle with Darth Vader in 'Rebels'.
From a plot perspective, it was interesting to learn that the Baby's past is not as cloudless as we might have assumed. It is quite possible that he lost all his teachers and therefore forgot everything to somehow continue living.
The conclusion of one big story arc with the search for Jedi ended very intriguingly, making it now completely unclear what to expect next, and what could be more interesting than that?
